Great movie to be introduced to fine actors

A very young and horribly balding Lou Gossett, sans the Jr. was the bomb, totally assimilated into the white mans world, white shoes and all! Boy did he make a change in appearance over the years. What a wonderfully portrayed Walter Younger by an equally young future star, Sydney P.
I felt the Younger's home (Kitchenette) was much nicer than I visualized it in the reading of the play. It would have been too difficult to have Beneatha really have her the way God intended it to be.. was that the line used in the play I can't quit remember.
Sydney's transformation from disenchanted 30 something husband/father to a proud head of the household 30 something, was wonderfully done. Although I didn't really pitty his character too much in either the reading or the movie.
Great over all movie, glad I was able to see the written words come to life on the screen. |
