To watch "Psycho" for the first time is a treat unlike anyother, It's like experiencing your first kiss or your first joyful moments all over again. For me, "Psycho" is a movie that makes all the other horror films tremble like the cowardly Lion in "The Wizard Of Oz". It doesn't depend on gore or surprise endings. It depends on the sheer follow through of the audience to believe in it. Today horror films are so gruesome and bloody that they forget their purpose. "Psycho" is Alfred Hitchcock most beloved thriller and it's been marked number 1 as the best thriller of all time by AFI. Hitchcock tries to scare us by not making any character a freak or weirdo. Hell, even Norman isn't all that crazy to start with. I think by not demonizing anyone, you get the audience in a guessing game. Who is the mysterious woman in Norman's house? Who is who effect is much scarier because when we thought it was this character and the truth is revealed, we're not only scared but frightened.
