Not a good movie yet ground-breaking cutting edge.

Its not a great movie by any standards yet it is definitely an important one and a ground breaking one. Long before Borat, Southpark, and other outrageous over the top comedies there was Pink Flamingos. It features Divine a drag queen as the main character and features story-lines like lesbians adopting children. Back in the early 1970's these topics were very racy and taboo. Considering the film was shot for pennies and dealt with shocking topics, it was well ahead of its time. How many other films from the 1970's to people still refer back to as cutting edge? |
