David Lean returns and delivers again
by Michael (movies profile)

It is not often that in today's Cinema one can be wowed by all aspects of a movie such as I was with this wonderful film.It is a story about our humanity. It takes a close looks at man's propensity for prejudice and how stupid this prejudice is.It does not show us any of the characters as perfect but shows us real people. The movie shows us the oppressed Indian people as imperfect as well and this is what makes this film so powerful. This movie is in no hurry,it takes it's time to tell this terrific story of love, hate, and domination. No special effects here, just great directing, acting and writing. The cinematography as in all Lean pictures has a wonderful natural feel to it which is a welcome relief in this era of CGI effects. |
