The Odd Couple
by James (movies profile)
Aug 8, 2007
Neil Simon knows how to deliever comedy. And with this great movie from 1968, it is a comedy classic. "The Odd Couple" is a memorable film that everyone should watch and enjoy. Released on May 2, 1968, this film version of Simon's Broadway smash is a perfect comedy to put up on the cinemas. Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau are the perfect cast as two bachelors living together.
"The Odd Couple" starts off in Oscar Madison's (Matthau) appartment, where he and some of his friends are playing poker in a stanked conditions. Then comes in Felix Ungar (Lemmon), who just separated with his wife after 12 years of marriage. Oscar takes Felix in as his room mate. But things get a little off-handed from here. For starters, Felix is a health nut and wants Oscar's apartment to be the cleanest one possible. Then, after a little date with some English sisters goes awry, Oscar finally gets the nerve and tells him off. Here, Oscar kicks Felix out of his apartment and Felix now relizes that he can live by himself and is free. But he and Oscar are still the odd couple of friends.
This is such a great film. It is a really funny film and an enduring classic. It kind of sucked that they made a sequel almost 30 years later, but the original still holds still today. Go get this movie today! |
