Bond in a Clown Suit?

As the 70s began the idea of spying and espionage seemed ridiculous. By the time the 80s rolled around the Cold War heated up again and the seriousness of the Bond series reflected that change in tastes...until Octopu$$y. Humor infiltrated the Bond series during the Roger Moore years but if there was ever Moore Bond flik in which that humor overextended itself, it's this one. Bond is supposed to be fun but watching Bond swinging on a vine and belting a tarzan yell is going a little too far. Witnessing Bond difuse a nuclear bomb while dressed in a clown suit is like something out a Tim Burton movie and seems completely out of place. Roger Moore's increasing age (he is older than Sean Connery) is overtaking his boyish charms and good looks making it difficult to watch him seduce those twenty-somethings. Octopu$$y isn't a complete wash; Louis Jordan makes a great villain but the script doesn't give him much to do. This wasn't a highpoint for the series and unfortunately things would get worse before they got better.
