George A. Romero sure knows how to direct a horror movie, as he proves with this - the first in a tetrology about the living dead. The story is fairly simple, but effective: zombies are taking over a small Pennsylvania town, and it's up to a few people - holed up in a house they've fortified - to fight for their lives. The opening scene sets up the movie well as a brother and sister are attacked in a graveyard, from there on out, it's pure suspense.
I recommend that you see it in the original black and white print, as opposed to the computer-colorized one. |
