This is George A. Romero's first installment of the new kind of zombie. NOTLD, in my opinion, tapped into the greateset fear in all humans...BEING EATEN ALIVE!!! Previously, zombies were mindless humans who performed the biddings of those who controlled them. Not these zombies!!! They have one objective and that is to eat you. What makes the horror more horrific is that if bitten, or infected, you too will become a zombie. Also, though the movie is primarily centered around the survivors in the farmhouse, we know that this "epidemic" is spreading. Where is one to hide or be safe in an ever growing world of zombies? This movie forever changed how I felt about horror movies. Truely, a classic. |
