In 1935, the Marx Bros(Groucho, Chico and Harpo) starred in the delighful comedy classic, "A Night at the Opera" It was directed by Sam Wood and also stars Kitty Carlisle, Allan Jones and Margaret Dumont. This was the Marx Bros. first film for MGM, after doing five films for Paramount Studios. After that, they went on to star in five more films at the same studio, including "A Day at the Races" "Go West" and their final film for MGM, "The Big Store." I believe that "A Night at the Opera" is one of their best films they did in the 1930's, and it's one of my favorites. |
