This movie features some of the finest western actors, namely Yul Brynner, Charles Bronson, Steve McQueen and James Coburn. Eli Wallach is perfect as the leader of the bandits, while Brad Dexter and Robert Vaughn perform are less impressive.
The direction is generally excellent, but the last two of the four who died were killed after the fight was pretty much over, when all the bandits were shot or were riding off, and this didn't seem to make sense. The story is generally good, but could have been even better with a few improvements here and there. The fine musical score is memorable. |
