I liked it, but seeing the Seven Samurai ruined it for me. It was a great movie and they did a good job adapting the Japanese classic into a Western, but it seemed to lack some of the flavour of the original.

It dwealt a bit too much on how tired some of them were of killing and even including one of the team waking up from a nightmare about killing some one. This could happen, and it was pulled off rather well, but how does it fit into the story?

And some of the main characters didn't have enough personality. Most of them seemed to act like each other, with a few exceptions. And it also left out any bad effects that the love affair between the youngest fighter and one of the female peasants, giving it a rather fluffy, happy feel that seems a bit out of place.

That, with a few more little details that I won't get into, kept it from being as good as its Asian conterpart, in my eyes anyway. But it was still one of the best Westerns I've seen.
