Craven was trying to shock and shock he did. Not really with gore or a good story, but with the incredible way this movie falls on it's face!
The rape scene is disturbing and scary and brutal and real, but what the **** was that nice mellow music they played in the background? What was that for? It took all the suspence out and all the shock, and made it down right disturbing... so I guess it worked in it's favor.
Next thing here is... the criminals why would they haul up in the house? Why? They acted like bafoons and idiots the whole time and you knew the whole time what was coming.
The movie like all Craven movies took a **** dive into the toilet at the end. When the house was rigged with booby traps to catch the now Scared out of their mind Killers. Scared of what? The parents.... oooooooohohohohohohoh real scary!
Anyway, a mom bites a guys junk off and it looks so damn stupid it's not even scary or funny. It's insulting.
The mom savage-like kills the woman with a knife and rolls her off into the pool.
The dad only kills 1 guy really and it don't even show it. He spends most of his time running from the bad ass of the movie and falling down.
The main bad ass of the movie "if you wanna call him that" Makes one of the other crooks kill himself, by get this.... telling him to. It's really lame. I think Craven just didn't know what to do to end the movie.
In the end, the dad get's a chainsaw and chases a screaming -- at one time bad ass cold killer around the house like a girl, until he catches him, but it doesn't show anything... lame
I told you the whole movie so you don't have to waste your time on it. Thank me.
