This movie recaptures the Orchid emperor or
PU YI in such detail that makes reading the book
twilight in the forbidden city by the tutor teacher a sad but epic movie.
I had to see how the directors cut was more impressive around this time and how they really
got the Costumes to perfection in the time era
of 1908 - mid Manchu dynasty. To see this movie
in Gu gong or the Forbidden city made me cry of
what it is today. It is sad that China great
Monarchy is no longer standing. To watch Pu yi
and Pu Chieh grow and the struggle of being
in prison by the government who wanted them to
adapt to Comunist society in adaption to the
Mao's teaching brought Sadness to my eye.
You see a boy become a royal Emperor only
to lose all that he would gain and end up
being a simple person in the end.
I would suggest this movie to anyone who is
a monarch or interested in Monarchy or pre-
history of china.Right around the red
Revolution and Mao's Famous Red book.
This movie would give a reality check to any
Current Monarch and anyone interested monarch's
of the past. I would say this movie is all time
favorite Oscar movie of mine!. Congratulations
to the Italian Director who took the chance
to movie based on Asin Pu yi.
