It's hard to imagine that a movie made in the 1930s would be more visually and technically impressive than a remake made over 40 years later. This is very true in the case of King Kong, still standing as one of the greatest movies ever made, it captures the essence of what this story should and could be more than that crapola 1970s remake could even attempt. The special effects were so far ahead of their time, moviegoers must have been in total awe when they first saw it in '33. Kong fights various dinosaurs, a serpent, airplanes and New Yorkers and all through stop motion animation. What's really cool is that even though he is in fact a puppet, the director manages to make us care for him, especially when he is finally shot down at the very end. I love watching Kong play with hottie Fay Wray, she was worth climbing the Empire State Building and getting shot down for.
