"King Kong" is a cinematic miracle and a rare one if I may be so bold. It's the first monster movie that we actually CARE about the monster. The story is about an ambitous director named Carl Denham, he wishes to make another adventure picture but with a woman. For the 1930's, sexism was still in movies and in this one it's annoying and infuriating. Anyway, Carl needs an actress but all of them are out of work or just don't want to work with him.
Carl goes out and tries to find a woman for his picture. He finds one, Ann, Carl and his crew set sail to skull island. When they get there, the crew meet into a huge mess with the tribal people that live there. The tribe members kidnap Ann and take her to Kong.
"King Kong" is a great movie because of it's theme, the cruelist civilization is modern civilization. We feel and love Kong, plus Carl throws in the best lines in any motion picture. He says these lines after capturing Kong.
"Don't you see we came here to make a picture no has ever seen or heard of before! This is worth more then any motion picture in the world. We're rich boys! I'll share it with all of you! Soon it'll be in lights on broadway, Kong the Eighth Wonder of the World!" |
