Steve Martin's comedy is unmatched. Only Martin could portray the confused, not-too-bright character who thinks he is doomed to failure as the lone "son" with no rhythm in his black family. One night, after discovering he indeed DOES have rhythm he becomes empowered and believes he can take on the world and leaves his black roots behind in search of greater things.
Thinking of Martin dancing around the house after learning he has rhythm or "THOSE CANS!!!" just makes me smile to this day. Martin's unique brand of comedy hasn't quite been replicated to this day. An unforgettable comedy. |
