"It Happened One Night" is considered a classic for it's time. The acting goes above and beyond all expectations considering Claudette Colbert did not want anything to do with the movie. It seems as though she completely devoted herself to a role she despised through out the whole movie. The quality of film also seems to be beyond its time. There are scenes, such as when Clark Gable is carrying Claudette Colbert across the water that the water actually sparkles. “It Happened One Night” won five academy awards and surely put the small Columbia pictures on the map. The movie is a complete love story about two strangers who slowly begin to realize that they have a deep love for each other. Even though the movie is in black and white, it still possesses some of the same qualities that attract people to colored movies today like drama, comedy, and love. |
