Out of the three Jack Ryan series of books, a fictional character Tom Clancy made up to live out his dream life, The Hunt for Red October is by far the best. No disrespect to Harrison Ford but once Alec Baldwin set the standard for Jack Ryan, no other actor would do. While the film did take some liberties, Soviet sub crews do not exist 24/7 in their dress uniforms, it was for the time factually correct and presented what could have been a course lecture on submarine technology and tactics into a thrilling movie that held the viewer to the edge of their seats from start to finish. A must watch for anyone who likes intellectual movies with great storylines attached. |
