Keeping in mind that it's 1- a children's movie & 2- it was made in 1978 .. this is a decent movie ..
The story is faithful to the original book by Tolkien. The animation is a bit strange & mediocre .. you don't see anyone actually getting killed. When striken, the spiders and the goblin king kinda "roll away out of existence" so to speak .. there's no blood here. The Mirkwood elves are little cruel creatures, unlike Elrond, who has an amazing crown of stars around his head. I really liked this touch!...The voice acting was good.. Bilbo's voice really fits, so is Gandalf's!
I recommend this movie for family/kids lazy sunday afternoon.
