It almost seems ridiculous to review a film that is, indeed, a classic. But, nevertheless, it is my favorite horror film--and has been for 25 years--for MANY reasons. #1--it stands up! Yes, the plot is simple, even mindless, but who cares?
John Carpenter fills the screen with so many dark corners of the night, and THE SHAPE, that you never know when you are going to see Michael Myers. Take my advice, watch this film on widescreen, and you will be rewarded with many shots of MM you have never seen if all you've been doing is watching the full screen video version. Jamie Lee is perfect as the Final Girl, and you just gotta love old Donald Pleasance..he is the meat and potatoes of it all. But above everything, Michael Myers is the greatest relentless stalking madman who has ever graced the silver screen. Yes, folks, he IS the boogeyman!!! |
