That Was MY War!
by writesong (movies profile)

Greetings:
I liked the movie,"HAIR", because it was about MY war.
The movie illustrated the divisions in contemporary American society, which made the war that much harder for the soldier.
Folks today probably don't realize how divided against each other Americans were back then, or how violent and bloody it was.
I like the music in "HAIR", although I do find some of the lyrics objectionable and unnecessary.
I saw the play, "HAIR", in Sydney, Australia when I was on R&R from Viet Nam.
I hated the play, because it made no sense, and was downright pornographic.
But, years later, I saw the movie at a theatre in Salt Lake City, Utah, and it had a story I could understand, so I liked it.
As a veteran of Viet Nam, I was moved to tears by the final scene at the grave.
I ain't never been no hippie, but I wonder if folks comprehend that a lot of hippies actually did serve in Viet Nam?
Not all hippies burned their draft cards or fled to Canada.
Thank you.
