obviously a WWII propaganda film meant to encourage men to enlist in the marines, it probably worked. in no other film i've seen has it seemed so cool to go die for your country. crisp dialogue, genuine humor, and of course motivational propaganda, give this film both historical and entertainment value. not a must-see unless you're really into war films, but since it's public domain i got my copy at the dollar store; definetly a dollars worth of entertainment. not too badly deteriorated for its age either as most forgotten PD films are. |
