The stunning scenery and human acting of the great underrated Max Von Sydow propel this telling of the Christ to the top of the list, earning the title "The Greatest Story Ever Told". With todays' technological CGI, this story couldn't be told any better. Human acting cannot be touched by CGI. I just love the directing, art directing, and last but not least, the casting. John Wayne's line,"Truly this Man is the Son of God" with his cowboyish drawl adds to the human effects of this picture. And let's not forget the best part of the movie, "Jesus, remember me when you come to your Kingdom. Jesus replies,"Today you will be with me in paradise" All this happening with Jesus being crucified between two criminals, one accepting his fate, the other not. What drama! This is THE ONE MOVIE to own on DVD! |
