Hands down the very best film with the greatest cast ever to have come together. A tragic story with an even more horrendous ending, but the film is so well made and the acting even more superb that it is an American treasure. Beautiful score, great script, impecable acting, and wonderful direction make up this flawless beauty.
Directed by John Sturges who later did with a few members of this cast The Magnificent Seven. The reason why this film has the best cast of talent is as follows: Steve McQueen, Richard Attenborough, Donald Pleasance, Charles Bronson, James Coburn, James Garner, and great host of others. It was made in 1963, and for some reason didn't recieve the distinguished recognition until well after the sixties and seventies. Thank god that the american public has gotten their head from their $$$$$ and come to appreciate this true gem of great cinema. |
