How can you tell, just how geat a Movie is? ... Time will always tell. Those that stand the course of time, and remain an entertainment stapple of succeeding generations, even though copied to death but never duplicated. The Good, the Bad and The Ugly is such a true Classic having been tested and tempered over the years of viewer enjoyment.
But why is this Movie so entertaining? When you campare it by todays standards for the big budget movie, this movie would have a very hard time cutting the mustard...or would it? What does it have that our multi million dollar CGIed to death Jewels of today do not have? The answer is HUMAN executed detailing. For instance the battle scene at the bridge uses an actual cast of thousands, pushing shoving ,shooting and stabbing at one another. The Movie is real and often expsoses the Human frailites of its' characters when you least expect it. Whether it is the relationship between "The Ugly Character" and his brother the Priest, or Clint Eastwood gently stroking a kitten, prior to gunning down his armed two legged prey. The Movie allows us to see the full package, giving each of the Actors enough time [TIME!] to lazyly develope each of the characters in this Civil War Period Saga, no matter how small their supporting role might seem. Every line, every action is like the stroke of an artists brush, on a multi layered canvass. |
