I purchased this movie and the Chaplin Collection DVDs because I am trying to collect AFI top 100 list. Gold Rush and Modern Times are part of the list and are ranked 74 and 81 respectively. I dreaded watching this movie because I didnt beleive I could sit through a silent, black and white film. I was wrong. This movie just sucked me right in. Charlie Chaplin is truley a genius. Its hard to describe the movie I only could highly reccommend it to you. You must watch this classic. It is heart warming and funny. Even though it is silent, the Tramp tells a story better than most movies today. This movie has some of the most memorable scenes of all time. Like the table top dance with the rolls of bread, the dance sequence when his pants keep falling down, and so on and so on. There are so many memorable scenes in this movie, so PLEASE WATCH IT. I think it should have been ranked a lot higher than was on AFI's Top 100. |
