ACTION!!! Eastwood style

The Gauntlet is a no brainer.A mindless action flick filled to the brim with violence and riddled with bullets and corpses.It's also a helluva lotta fun.Completely unplausible scenes are highly unlikely but it's all great entertainment and a pleasure to watch.The acting is less than stellar and Eastwood's direction isn't his best.Still,this a well made action/adventure yarn that never fails to entertain and sometimes that's all that counts. Contrary to some people's belief-this is not a Dirty Harry film.Clint's character is a bounty hunter who isn't that bright or witty.He's been hired to transport a hooker to stand trial and he does-through hell and high water.Through a gauntlet of bullets.This film has to earn some kind of distinction as the most lead ever fired into a bus,or something.The climax is a harrowing (and completely unbelievable) sequence of pure firepower and iron will.Fun time waster won't leave a permanent imprint on your brain or earn a seat in the cinema hall of fame,but it is a good time at the movies-Eastwood style. |
