there was Forbidden Planet. This was the film that hooked me on sci-fi as a kid and I'm still hooked.
With a story taken from Shakespeare's "The Tempest" and a wonderful set of visuals, Forbidden Planet still stands the test of time. It is a cerebral tale with enough action to keep it moving. It creates longing for what is lost, even though completely alien and far away.
This is the prototype of all of the great sci-fi films that followed it. Mystery, suspense, action, and a great sense of venturing into the unknown. |
