We still haven't caught up to the spirit, or technology, of Forbidden Planet. Innovative special effects, hand painted backgrounds and imaginative writing created a story which we MAY see in our lifetimes. The idea of a superior civilization in existence should be no surprise to us. Mathematically, there has to be. Let's just hope that Leslie Nielsen isn't the guy who meets them. His comedic talents far excel compared to the young, serious Nielsen who starred in this 1956 hit. In fact, it might be fun if Nielsen would reprise his role in a satire of this classic. In fact, I have the title..."Forbidden Remake". |
