See Jack getting to be the great actor he is..

I don't quite agree with the standars review posted here.
Jack Nicholson IS a misfit whose running away from his family and everything it represents. That's why he gets involved with such flat, ordinary characters as his girlfriend and buddy Elton. He never realizes that he is trying to run away from who he is...his talents and feelings..
His simple, poorly educated and TV-soap-opera-like fan represents more than just commitment, she represents the total opposite of what he's used to; she is ALL the uneducated and authentic that his family is not.
The scene where Bob and Ray pick up a couple of angry enviromental ladies? is hilarious..
This movie starts out as a simple movie and it slowly picks up the pace and intensity. Jack Nicholson is great, especially in the scene where he really talks to his handicapped father for the first and probably last time. |
