Frank Borzage's expressionist direction is what made it for me! Very disturbing scenes and an altogether wonderful use of the camera, some scenes techniques are real jawdroppers. Too bad it often has to rely on the sappy love story and the overacting of Helen Hayes. Adolphe Menjou was great though!
