Although an 'old' film, it has all the things, little things that make a movie as close to reality as can be. Remember the dirty, muddy armor, blood and gore of Gladiator and Braveheart, well you can thank this movie for it. The only thing that I felt was wrong with this film was it was not 'American' enough. One can tell it is a 'foreign' film. But, Im sure for some it is not a problem at all. As a matter of fact it really was a minor concern to me as Excalibur is an English story and why shouldnt the English make the movie! It was great to see Gabriel Byrne, Liam Neeson and Patrick Stewart appear in this movie before they all became famous in the US. The movie is not for everyone, but if this is the type of genre you like and even if its not. You can come away saying that you just saw a well made, entertaining film. |
