There are very few films that I have seen where if I'm channel surfing and just happen to land on it (no matter what part of the movie) and watch it over and over and over it's this one.
McGoohan is a prototypical confident Warden that loves to remind his prisoners that the fate that has brought them into alcatraz will leave them at alcatraz, "No one leaves Alcatraz... Alive"
The dialogue between the Warden and Morris (Eastwood) just makes it sweeter in the end.
I wished that I would have known a bit more about the mastermind (Morris), but I will not take away from the movie as it was not named "Frank Morris Chronicles".
If you liked Shawshank Redemption, you will like this movie. If you like this movie you will like Shawshank...
Don't rent it, buy it. It's a keeper. |
