The very title of the film gives the plot away, so it comes down to a movie well done and not the typical. There are no riots or easy ways past hurdles for the escapees. Rather, the mastermind Morris (Eastwood), takes his time to come up with a way out. In the meantime, routine prison life is depicted much differently than in other films, and seems more realistic. All the characters are well rounded and portrayed except the polarized and somewhat sadistic warden. There's quite a bit of tension and some suspense. Give this one a look if you haven't seen it. |
