I am one of the one's who get this movie and it's statement. I would love to see how this movie would be made today, it would center around two thug gangstars and their new ride, as they go off into the U.S. of A and make complete ass ****s outta themselves -- all while listening to their **** rap music!
Anyway, this movie is great... I love the ACID Trip at the end, it's fantastic and is so well captured... Eerie and scary at the same time.
The movie showcases life in that time to a blinding T... I wasn't around then, but if I was -- that's how it would have been in my mind. Jack Nicholson plays a small and memorable role in the film aswell, but he never ever eclipses Fonda. A class act actor to follow, his cool, calm, laid back approch to the not so much Hippi biker, but a man on a bike with no direction yet -- was brilliant.
Hopper I could do without, at times he was good, but at others he was just terrible. His acting has come along ways.
In the end you will either get this movie and love it for what it is or in the end your gonna be one of the ones who simply do not get this movie and it's message.
Watch it anyway and see for yourself, one of my all time favorites. Very mood setting, very sticken and very tangible -- even by today's way of urban hip hop cultured crap ass life styles. |
