I love this movie on so many levels. The cinematography is excellent; the story is funny, touching and realistic at the same time.
There's no moralizing or glamorizing in the movie. It is what it is. It's the story of Bob and Diane and their lives of getting high and getting the drugs to get high. To them, people who go to score each day are suckers. They go to the source: the drugstore.
While the life seems to be going as smooth as that life can get, things turn for the worst and Bob wants out. The scenes at the police conventions are reminiscent of Hunter Thompson and hilarious.
This redeems Dillon's career. His talent is usually wasted in a film or he chooses some bombs to be in. This fits him like a glove. It shows his humor and likeability. Diane Lane hasn't been better since. |
