Love and loss in times of turmoil

David Lean's epic masterpiece, Doctor Zhivago, is still as powerful as ever, even after almost 40 years. Although Soviet Union no longer exists, the themes of love, betrayal and loss are eternal.

Yuri Zhivago (Omar Sharif) is a doctor-poet torn between the pragmatic, but cold relationship with his wife Tonya (Geraldine Chapman) and his fiery, passion-filled relationship with his mistress Lara (Julie Christie). Global events soon play role as World War I erupts and the Russian Revolution follows. Swept up in these events like a flash flood, the characters cling to anything that will provide them comfort, anything that will remind themselves that they are still human.

Stunning scenery (filmed in Spain and Canada) and a beautiful, lyric score, add to the splendor of this film. A must for all movie lovers.
