One of the greatest romances ever to hit the silver screen - right up there with Casablanca. The performances are second to none - Omar Sharif is gorgeous, and plays the part of Yuri with haunting sensitivity. Julie Christie *is* Lara - you can't imagine any other actress portraying this woman, whose impact on the lives of the men in her life was so all encompassing, so wonderful and so devastating all at the same time. A classic historical romance - depicting the chaos and destruction behind the ideals of the Russian Revolution. One of David Lean's finest. |
