David Lean is among the very best of storytellers, and will remain in the top 10 directors list of all time. His best achievement in the later part of his career is Doctor Zhivago. This should be under the definition of an epic. It's long and the photography in this film is flawless. It's so beautiful. Everything in this film is beautiful. To show you how great Mr. Lean is, he took a brilliant novel, translated the dark context into a moving picture, and eventually made one of the greatest pictures ever to released.
