Clint Eastwood is one of the best actors to have ever lived, and he is still going strong today. However, Clint hit a carrer high with the first of five Dirty Harry movies. He alone made the cop genre cool again. Many movies since this one classic film have tried to recapture the magic in this film. Some, yes have succeeded. Shaft (1971) and Shaft (2000) immediately jump into my mind. Some have failed. When you look at a movie like Dirty Harry, his character is not much different than a cowboy. Both are rebels, who only answer to themselves. That's what makes this movie work. The acting, direction are all top knotch, and not to mention that this movie has a great score by Lalo Schifrin. There have been many cop movies since this one in 1971, but this will always be the best. |
