Great cast in a great coming of age film.

This is a very well made film with great acting at its heart. The film goes through three distinct stages that add to its quality. The first stage is about comedic boyish antics. The six friends brag about what they have done with girls and what they want to do with girls and act like complete asses really. They all really think that they are happy even though they couldn't be farther from true happiness. Their shallow selfish outlook and ay of life leads t heir downfall and overall to the growth as human beings. The second stage of the film moves into more of a dramatic era of the six young men's lives. They begin to grow and mature in ways that make them better people and help them become gentlemen. They still have many struggles and they do not know if they will ever be happy, but they are all hoping that they are doing enough to get by. The final stage of the movie is their fulfillment of happiness when they are able to come to grips with themselves and each other and are able to respect one another. They have become men at this point. The final scene of the film shows that happiness is a beautiful thing and that the struggles that lead us their are worth it. The three stages are true to the human existence and through a simple yet influential film are shown to the world. |
