The only reason husband Milland wants to get rid of beautiful wife Kelly is because she's getting sexual satisfaction elsewhere from a more younger and much more handsome Cummings. Oh yeah, sure, the REAL reason is money, how dirty minded of me. Played almost in it's entire lenghth in one sole set (like "Rope" -also from a play- and "Lifeboat") "Dial" is better than "Rope" in that there ARE camera movements but also chop-montage-editing. The actual attempted murder is chilling, both because of the acting and the music, but the visuals in this scene soar to heights of master achievment. However the whole movie was supposed to be a showcase for the 3D process, so with the novelty FX striped away the plot is too slow and the actors TALK too much. The pacing isn't regular. It's not great, just memorable.
