To me, this beats The Hustler in every way. The acting is better, it has a better or at least more developed story, and the visuals are better, with oscar worthy cinamatography. The Scene where Cruise is running the table and the camera is circling the table is at the pinacle of cinima. Scorsese's direction is superb, even though he did it for money, not him feeling compeled to do it like Gangs of NY or Raging Bull. Is up to better than his films Casino, Mean Streets, Gangs of NY, Raging bull and Cape fear, but Far from as good as Taxi Driver and Goodfellas. The only flaws are that it has no real climax and like every other one of the films I just said exept Cape Fear, the ending is a let-down. |
