At one point in time, not too long ago, this was my favorite film. I love everything about this movie. The acting is great, and happens to show Richard Dreyfuss in his second finest work, second to The Goodybye Girl or Jaws, take your pick. The direction in this movie is also at perfection. The visuals/special effects, his handling with the actors, and the way everything just seems to flow in the film are just perfect. However, the one main thing that is over the line of perfection is the music. It is better than perfection, if that is even possible. This movie possibly contains John William's finest work, at least maybe his most underrated work. Of course Jaws, Indiana Jones, Superman, are better, but the music in this movie is great. This film as I said earlier used to be my favorite film, but that was after I saw Superman for the first time since I was a very little kid, but even that too is not my favorite movie anymore. That has now been replaced with L.A. Story. However, even though this has been bumped to #3, it is still a very magnificent film, and should be watched by people of all ages. |
