I've heard a lot of things(usually they are clearly distinguished as "good" and "bad) about Stanley Kubrick's Clockwork Orange, but I dare not see the movie, because I fear that I can get serious psychological hurt as I'm teenager. But I really want to find out the real quality of Clockwork Orange and I read the novel first. The novel, written by Anthony Burgess, hmm quite good. Of course, I didn't understand the novel. It was just an eccentric story of a mad, young, scoundrel. However, I read it more and I also read various analyzations of the book. Then I know what the book wants to tell and I think it is quite a good novel, but also kind of difficult to understand because the book is not appealing to normal people. It is kind of eerie and strange. Just Imagine this book is made into movie! Then I had a chance to watch the film and I got ready and watched. Well, the movie was very, very good, except for brutal violence. Of course, I didn't feel so well throughout the movie but definitely, this movie is kind of masterpiece! Mr. Kubrick's direction and his bright imagination was magnificant and I also like Malcolm Mcdowell's performance. I really hated "Alex" during the film but I really love Mr.Mcdowell's passionate acting. Without he, this movie would not have existed. Moreover, I love the music - especially Beethoven's. And the art design was one of the elements that made the movie interisting. Who could imagine that Koronova milk bar in that design?! It was really fancy and imaginative. But it is not an easy movie. It is very violent and this disturbing element prevents people from thinking of the message that the film wants to ask to you. And it's not easy content to understand. Nobody forces you to do that, but this movie is not for ones who just love to be entertained by watching movie.(They usually watch movie just once!) So look closer and you'll find something and just gasp. |
