This is a story about love and power.Cleopatra play by Elizabeth Taylor desire to rule not only Egypt but the rest of the known world.Her first lover Julius Caeser play by Rex Harrison wants to turn Rome from a republic to a monarchy.The Roman Senate has other ideas about that.Her second lover Marc Anthony play by Richard Burton gives Cleopatra the eastern half of Rome conquest.Caeser August play by Roddy Mcdowell is out to destory Anthony and Cleopatra.The entire cast does a wonderful job.Roddy Mcdowell should have had an oscar.One of the best scence is the navel battle of Actium.Joseph L. Mankiewicz did a real good job of directing. |
