First silent film
by Trisha (movies profile)
Jan 9, 2009
This was the first silent film that I watched. It was a special screening at the Art Museum and they played the track of all of Chaplin's original scores along with the film. But the movie was incredible. I had never seen Chaplin in an entire film - just snippets on commercials or YouTube videos. But now I can definitely see why he would have been the first international celebrity of all time. His charisma was just so eclectic and fun to watch, everyone seemed to laughing throughout the entire movie. The part of the leading lady seemed to be actually quite good, especially since she had never done a film before. The story line was darling and the end was cute. It's definitely a film someone could fall in love with and decided to watch again and again. From the drunken night club, to the boxing ring, and even the opening scene on the statue - all work together to make this hilarious film that is definitely worth the watch. |
