With the release of the new CGI Chipmunks movie I went on YouTube and looked back at The Alvin Show from 1961 as well as Alvin & the Chipmunks which ran from 1983 through at least 1990, maybe longer - maybe you can make more sense of the episode list on ****.com than I could. What jumped out at me however was the made for TV movie: The Chipmunk Adventure (1987). The movie was totally 80's - so if you were born in 1970 or there-bouts like I was, you should appreciate the era. I was mildly surprised how un-PC it all was - the bad guys all smoked and had very ethnic looks to them - I'm not a wizard with words so you'll have to check it out to see what I mean.
Bottom line though - it was a fun movie. I found the torrent and downloaded a full version, excellent quality, and watched the whole thing. The hi-light might be the rock n roll duel between Alvin and Britney(sp) over who had the better band - the song is called "The Girls of Rock n Roll" - but it should have been called the 'Girls and Boys' of rock n roll. In my humble opinion the boys win out by a whisker - though the title goes to the girls because Brittany (sp) issued the challenge. If you go to YouTube and look for it - there are several version, none nearly as good in quality as the 100 mb torrent out there - but look for the 4 min 3 sec YT version, it's the best quality.
Also, the background annimation, doesn't seem to set itself apart from Disney, Hanna-Barbara and others - it's unique enough to seem fresh ... or maybe it's just old?! Or maybe I'm just old.
Anyway - it's worth the 110 minutes or whatever it is.
