Okay, so CARRIE got a better grade than HALLOWEEN...it's still not as scary or atmospheric. But for sheer scope; the acting, the direction, the script...this film got it all right. Sissy Spacek and Piper Laurie--after a 15 year absence from films--were both nominated for Academy Awards--practically unheard of for a horror film. The entire cast is top notch...but it is the true creepiness of Carrie that seeps through time and time again. Were you picked on in school? And didn't you REALLY wish you could do something about it? Oh...Carrie has THE POWER and boy does she ever use it. Lest we not forget Brian DePalma's direction...flawless!! And the music to the film is integrated so well, it could almost be mistaken for a musical. There is not one thing wrong with this perfect horror film. Witness one of the best endings of any horror film ever to boot! Best line..."I can see your dirtypillows." |
