WW 2 is venerated in American history, largely because of the common purpose that united the country against deadly foes. Stories of treason, betrayal and incompetence during the war tended to come afterward. The Caine Mutiny marvelously portrays such a story, realistically told with fine performances especially by Bogart and MacMurray. Not a story about heroes but of men. |
